lol ur famous now: fake facebook twitter video scam

After a break, Once again spammers got active on social networking websites, This time spammers used micro blogging website twitter with facebook and youtube.

If any day, you received direct message on twitter with these words, lol ur famous now (link), don’t click on the link, This is new way to attack on your twitter profile.

Clicking on the link, would bring you on fake facebook app page, and ask you to Sign in on your twitter account to watch the video with this message, Twitter Video: You must be logged into Twitter to use this app.

Obviously this is fake Twitter Sign in page, If you enter your correct twitter credentials then spammers used your account for illegal activity.

After Sign in (fill wrong username and password), it redirect you to the following website, woot.tweetelf.info, with fake facebook background and a you tube player with below Flash Player error.

An update for YouTube player is required, update needed to view media.

The Flash Player 10.1 update includes

Smoother video with hardware acceleration support
Enhanced performance and memory management
Support for multi-touch and gesture enabled content
Private browsing support and security enhancements

If you click on Install, then it downloads malicious application(Umbra Loader – a popular botnet building tool.) on your computer.

If you already trapped in this Twitter video scam, then first change your twitter password before it too late or report facebook about this fake app and also tell us via comments.

    So I logged into the fake page, didn’t download the update though, clicked onto it then! I’ve changed my password I take it there’s now further danger?

      Hi,
      I just mentioned all these steps to tell you what exactly happens, when you go through these steps…

      Also make sure that your computer was not infected, So completely scan your System

        Hi. I open this app and sign in my correct username and password but when i entered it, nothing appeared so I just closed it. Will the spammer still can used my twitter account for illegal activities? When I read this article, I immediately change my password on twitter.

    I got the twitter message “you are famous now haha” and clicked on the link. It seemded that I still were on facebook, so I tried to install the “youtube player”, but the installation failed and the computer restarted. Then I saw that my anti virus blocked a lot of trojan horses, so I changed my twitter password.

    Should I do something more or will my anti virus deal with it?

      First of all, fully scan your computer with your updated antivirus. It is also possible that some keyloggers was installed on your computer, that can track your all single key stroke…
